v1.0
Freeform 1.0
Describe an app in plain language and get a live application you can keep editing, share with a link, and build on with other people.
Build
- Prompt to live app. Describe what you want and Freeform builds a working app in a sandbox. Follow up with more prompts to change it, and attach images to show what you mean.
- Queue follow-ups while it works. Keep typing while an edit is running. Your follow-ups queue up, and can be folded into the edit already in progress.
- Web search while building. Freeform can look things up on the web while it builds, so it can use current information.
- Bring your own API keys. Add keys and secrets to an app (say, to connect Stripe or send email). They're encrypted, and only the names of your keys are ever shown back to you.
- Apps remember their context. Each app keeps notes on what it is and what you've asked for, so later edits stay consistent with earlier ones.
Shareable links
- One link for every app. Every app has a link you can send. Make it private, share it with specific people, or let anyone with the link open it.
- Choose what people can do. Give a link view-only or edit access. Owners, editors, and viewers each see the controls that fit their role.
- Custom links and branding. Set a custom link name, hide the "Made with Freeform" badge, or turn on a cleaner view with less chrome around your app.
- Make a copy. Let people copy your app to build their own version, with its history carried along.
- Request access. Anyone who opens a private link can ask for access instead of hitting a dead end.
Multiple viewers
- Everyone sees the same live app. Viewers open the same running app you're editing, not a stale snapshot or a fork.
- See who's here. Live presence shows who else is looking at an app right now.
- Updates arrive as they happen. When an edit changes the app, everyone watching gets the new version without refreshing.
Multiple editors
- Invite people by email. Add collaborators by email as editors or viewers. They get an invite and the app shows up in their own dashboard.
- Edit together without collisions. Editors' prompts take turns, and each version records who asked for what.
Versioning
- Every change is saved. Each edit becomes a version you can look back on, with a label and who made it.
- Restore any version. Go back to an earlier version whenever a change doesn't work out. If a version fails to restore, Freeform repairs it automatically.
- Rename, delete, and reorder. Keep your history tidy by naming the versions that matter and removing the ones that don't.
Dashboard and plans
- Your apps in one place. Recents, favorites, shared apps, and manual ordering, with per-app settings for each.
- Free to start. Every account gets free usage to build with. Paid plans add more usage and options such as private links.
- Apps sleep and wake. Idle apps go to sleep to save resources and wake automatically when someone opens them, or on demand from the menu.
